The First Big Brother/Big Sister Retreat
The First Big brother/big sister Retreat near Kampot was a fantastic time. Most volunteers from The Bong Paoun Project came together for the week-end. Jean-Paul (missionary long with his wife) received us at ‘The Sanctuary’ (the place they have opened for those serving God in Cambodia) and led us into what he loves to call ‘Soaking in the Spirit’. As we sat at Jesus’ feet, words of knowledge and encouragement started to flow among the team. We thank God for touching our lives, afresh.
Saturday Fun Night was full of creativity: each Bong led either a song, a funny story, a poem, a game, a dance…A great time of fun and bonding.
Going to the top of Bokor Mountain, swimming in the river, crossing the river by boat were also highlights of our time together.
On Sunday morning I shared with the team how the Lord has been speaking to me over the past months about handing over most of the Bong Paoun Project ‘hands on’ side of the ministry to Maira de Lima (who has worked with me from almost the start of the project). We prayed for Maira as she will now become the new Project Coordinator.
I will continue however to be responsible for the Project, making sure it stays on track with the original vision. (Feel free to ask me for a copy of what my job description will now be.)
This new move will free me to serve better on the pastoral team of ICA, to continue preaching in and out of Cambodia and to start a whole new project here in Phnom Penh that has now been on my heart for many years.
