Great to know of your interest to become a Big Brother or a Big Sister!
A ‘Bong’ (big brother/ big sister) is a Christian who commits to help one or more ‘Paouns’ (little brother/ little sister).
You are a born again Christian, recommended by your pastor and 18 years old or above.
Your role as a Big brother/sister is to be a mentor to a street working child or to a child at risk of going to the streets.
Your task:
1. If the child is already on the streets, you will help him/her leave the streets (a sponsoring program can be put in place for children who are forced to work on the streets to bring an income into their family).
2. You will ensure the child goes to school every day (public school, private school, vocational training...). You will check if he/she is really attending class.
3. You will encourage your paoun(s) to join a local church (Sunday School, Youth Meeting, Home Group...) as well as a variety of activities (sport, music, theatre...)
You must commit to:
• Meet your paoun(s) at least once a week (to see how he/she and his/her family are doing)
• Meet up every two weeks with fellow mentors for accountability, prayer, support and the sharing of information that could benefit the whole group.
We recommend you team up with another ‘Bong’.
Males mentor boys.
Females mentor girls.
A male/female together can mentor boys or girls.
Every two weeks, all Bongs come together for prayer, support, and accountability.
Come and join hands with other brothers and sisters in Christ! Be part of an exciting growing ministry!
Come either on:
• Tuesday (1st and 3rd of the month), at 6pm
Or on:
• Saturday (2nd and 4th of the month), at 10am
At: House No.17, Street 185 (behind the Russian Hospital)
